Getting Started
Scheduling & Time Off
Where can I find the employee handbook?
From the Homepage, click Start Here, then select Employee Handbook. This page contains the current version of the Employee Handbook for all employees.
Where can I find my schedule?
Your schedule is available directly in the Homebase app. Open Homebase to view your upcoming shifts, schedule, and other scheduling information.
Where can I find store policies and procedures?
From the Homepage, click SOPs & Procedures. This section contains the store’s current policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
How do I request time off?
Time-off requests are submitted through the Homebase app. Open Homebase, go to your schedule, and submit a time-off request for the dates you need.
Please submit requests as early as possible. Time-off requests are subject to approval and are not considered approved until you receive confirmation.
Where can I find important employee contacts?
From the Homepage, click Store Ops, then select Store Contacts. This page contains important contact information for store leadership and other key contacts.
How do I call out sick?
If you are unable to work your scheduled shift because you are sick, you must contact the Manager on Duty at least 2 hours before your scheduled shift.
Please reach out directly to the Manager on Duty for that day and let them know that you will be unable to work. Do not rely on the Homebase app alone to notify the store.
What should I do if I’m running late?
If you know you are going to be late for your scheduled shift, contact the Manager on Duty as soon as possible to let them know your expected arrival time.
Do not wait until you arrive at the store to notify someone. Being late does not excuse you from communicating with the Manager on Duty.
When are paydays?
Employees are paid biweekly on Fridays. This means employees receive a paycheck every two weeks.
How do I request a shift swap?
Shift swaps are requested through the Homebase app. Use the shift-swap feature to request a swap with another employee.
A shift swap is not approved until it has been reviewed and approved according to store policy. Do not assume a swap is approved simply because another employee agrees to take your shift.
Who do I contact about a payroll issue?
For questions or issues with your paycheck, contact Tyler as soon as possible. This includes missing pay, incorrect hours, or other payroll discrepancies.
Please report payroll issues promptly so they can be reviewed and corrected.
How do I update my availability?
Availability updates should be made through the Homebase app. Update your availability in the app whenever your regular availability changes.
Please communicate any significant or ongoing availability changes to a manager as well.
Where can I find my benefits information?
Your benefits information is available through the Homebase app. Open Homebase to view your available benefits and related information.

Where can I find training materials?
Training materials and assigned courses are available through TalentLMS. Log in to TalentLMS to access your required training, courses, and learning materials.
If you have trouble accessing your training, please contact a manager.
What should I do if I make a mistake during my shift?
Mistakes happen. Be honest and let a manager know as soon as possible, especially if the mistake could affect a customer, transaction, inventory, or store operations.
Do not try to hide the mistake or make changes you are unsure about. A manager can help determine the appropriate next steps and make sure the issue is handled correctly.
What training am I required to complete?
Required training is assigned through TalentLMS based on your role and responsibilities. Log in to TalentLMS regularly to view your assigned courses and due dates.
Employees are responsible for completing all required training by the assigned deadline. If you are unsure which training is required for you, please speak with a manager.
What should I do if I have a difficult customer situation?
Stay calm, professional, and respectful, and use SPINE to guide your response:
S — Service: Focus on creating a positive experience.
P — People: Treat the customer and your teammates with respect.
I — Integrity: Do the right thing and be honest.
N — Neighborhood: Remember that we are part of the community we serve.
E — Excellence: Take pride in your work and look for the best solution.
If you are unable to resolve the situation, involve the Manager on Duty. Do not argue with the customer or make promises, offer exceptions, refunds, or other solutions outside of your authority.
When in doubt, follow SPINE and ask for help.
How do I get additional training?
If you would like additional training or want to learn more about a particular area of the store, talk to a manager. They can help identify the appropriate training or resources for you.
Additional training may be assigned through TalentLMS based on your role, responsibilities, or development needs.
How do I report a safety or maintenance issue?
Report any safety or maintenance issue to the Manager on Duty as soon as possible. You can also submit a Ticket form through the employee intranet.
This includes hazards, damaged equipment, spills, leaks, broken fixtures, or anything that could create a safety concern or affect store operations.
If the issue presents an immediate danger, notify the Manager on Duty right away and keep yourself and others away from the area until it can be addressed.
When in doubt, report it. It is better to speak up about a potential issue than to assume someone else has noticed it.
How do performance reviews work?
Performance reviews are an opportunity for employees and managers to discuss performance, progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
Your manager will provide feedback based on your work, responsibilities, and how you demonstrate Paperback Traffic’s expectations and values, including SPINE.
Performance reviews are also a chance to discuss goals, development opportunities, and any support you may need to be successful in your role.
How can I apply for an internal position?
If you are interested in an open position at Paperback Traffic, speak with a manager to express your interest and learn about the position and application process.
Internal opportunities may be available to employees who are in good standing and meet the qualifications for the position.
Who can I talk to about a workplace concern?
If you have a workplace concern, talk to your manager. They are available to listen, help address the situation, and determine the appropriate next steps.
If your concern involves your manager or you are not comfortable speaking with them, contact the Owner/Manager directly.
We encourage employees to speak up about concerns so they can be addressed appropriately and promptly.
Who can I talk to about career development?
Talk to your manager about your career goals and development. They can help you identify opportunities to build your skills, take on additional responsibilities, and prepare for future opportunities within Paperback Traffic.
You can also ask about additional training through TalentLMS that may support your development.
How do I report inappropriate workplace behavior?
If you experience or witness inappropriate workplace behavior, report it to a manager or the Owner/Manager as soon as possible.
You can also use the Submit a Ticket form on the employee intranet if you prefer to report the concern in writing.
Concerns should be reported promptly and will be taken seriously. If you are unsure whether something should be reported, speak up and ask a manager.
How can I give feedback or make a suggestion?
We encourage employees to share feedback, ideas, and suggestions that can help improve the store and the employee or customer experience.
You can talk to a manager directly or use the Submit a Ticket form on the employee intranet to share your feedback in writing.
All suggestions are welcome, and employees are encouraged to speak up with ideas for making Paperback Traffic better.
What should I do if I have a question that isn't answered here?
If you can't find the answer you're looking for on the employee intranet, ask your manager. They can help answer your question or direct you to the appropriate resource.
If your question identifies a gap in our resources, let us know so we can continue improving the intranet and make information easier for everyone to find.
